Server-Side Google Tag Manager

Server-side GTM moves your tracking tags from the visitor’s browser to a server that you control. Instead of loading Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, and other scripts directly in the browser, data is first sent to your server, which then forwards it to the respective platforms. This gives you full control over the data being shared.

By removing third-party JavaScript tags from the browser, your pages load significantly faster. Instead of the visitor’s browser connecting to dozens of tracking services, it sends data only to your server. This reduces load times, improves Core Web Vitals, and delivers a better user experience.

An event is any interaction tracked by your server-side container — page views, button clicks, purchases, form submissions, etc. Each interaction counts as one event toward your monthly limit. Most websites use between 3–10 events per page view.

Since data is processed on European servers before being sent to third parties, you retain full control. You can remove IP addresses, delete personal data, and ensure no data leaves the EU without your explicit configuration. This significantly simplifies GDPR compliance.

After ordering, we configure your server-side GTM container. You then point a subdomain (e.g. track.yourdomain.com) to our servers via a DNS CNAME record. Finally, configure your GTM web container to send data to your server endpoint instead of directly to Google or Facebook. Business and Enterprise plans include setup assistance.

Yes. Server-side GTM works alongside your existing web container. You can gradually migrate tags from client-side to server-side at your own pace. Most Google Analytics 4, Facebook CAPI, Google Ads, and other tags have server-side equivalents that work immediately.
