You can use a WHOIS search tool (like ours) to see where a domain is registered and who is behind it. The system searches the WHOIS database and provides you with the available public information.

Each time a domain is registered, the registrant (owner) must provide up-to-date contact details to the registrar. This information is stored in a public database known as WHOIS.

If the owner uses a privacy protection service, their direct email or name will not be publicly visible. In such cases, you can use the general email provided by the system to contact them. It’s also a good idea to check the website’s “About Us” or “Contact” pages.

Yes, you can update the information at any time via your registrar’s control panel. Usually, there is an easy interface to update contact details, email, phone, and more.

"Thin" WHOIS only shows basic information – such as registrar, date, and nameservers. For additional details, you need to make a secondary request to the registry.

"Thick" WHOIS contains full information – including owner’s name and contacts, technical and administrative contacts, registration and expiry dates, as well as used nameservers.

WHOIS data must be accurate and up-to-date. ICANN requires registrars to provide public access to correct information. If you provide false or outdated data, you risk losing your domain.

The information in WHOIS is filled in during domain registration, but if not updated when necessary, it may become outdated. That’s why it’s important to regularly check and update your data.
