Traditionally, there are three types of hosting. The most basic is shared hosting, also called web hosting. With shared hosting you share a server’s resources with hundreds of other clients. There is also cloud hosting and virtual private servers. In this case, you get a separate portion of the server’s resources, virtually allocated to you, but still connected to one or a group (cloud) of servers that also host other sites and clients. Finally, there is a dedicated server, where you get a machine entirely for your own use.
